KHS Kindergarten Grinch Day
Mrs. Swisher's first grade class at King's Highway was excited to have a special guest reader, Mrs. Crane, a retired teacher from Coatesville. When she visited, she read the book The Legend of the Poinsettia, which taught the children about Holidays Around the World. The book revealed that the Poinsettia, originating from Mexico and named after Dr. Joel Poinsett carries great cultural importance. Inspired by the story, the students had the opportunity to showcase their creativity by painting their own beautiful Poinsettias.
Kindergarten students at KHS participated in their Annual Butter Making Day.
Students have been learning about now and long ago. Most students liked the taste of the butter, but agreed it was a lot of work to make and are thankful for the grocery store.
Need a special gift for that Coatesville Alumni or the ultimate Coatesville fan?

Mrs. Swisher's first graders explored materials in Science from the perspective of how much light they let through. They worked together and sorted materials and determined if they were transparent, translucent, or opaque. As a culminating activity they made Paper Stain Glass and looked at how light shined through it.
Missing a hoodie? Water bottle? Lunch box? - The Lost & Found is nearing capacity. If your student has misplaced an item, ask them to check out the lost and found rack. Students are welcome to visit the L&F.

PBIS Volunteers Needed
We could use a little help. Our school-wide PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) program is a system where students are recognized for showing PRIDE. The Leo Cart is a mobile treasure chest that roams the hallways to pop in and reward students. We would love to have a few parent volunteers help out with the Leo Cart. Spend the day with the Leo Cart or maybe just one grade.
Volunteers need to have clearances on file with the King's Highway main office. Please see the attached letter (below).
Interested in helping out with PBIS? Contact: Ms. Mayan - mayanc@casdschools.org
The King's Highway PTO sponsors a canned food drive for the KH community. Classrooms will race against each other to see who can bring in the most canned food items. For each item brought in, students will get a raffle ticket for a chance to Pie-the-Principal on Monday, November 25th!

The King's Highway Student Safeties, led by Ms. Ollis, visited La Mancha Animal Rescue to learn about the work they do for the community. Students got to see the horses, goats, cat condo, and numerous dogs at the shelter. Part of their volunteer work was to help socialize a few puppies through playtime—a very important job that the King's Highway team took on. In addition to their visit, students collected and donated essential supplies (food, cleaning supplies, towels...) to the shelter.
