Congratulations to all of our future engineers who showcased their teamwork and innovation at the STEM Design Challenge hosted by the CCIU.
How can we promote accessible and sustainable infrastructure and industry in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals? Teams of fourth and fifth graders from King's Highway tackled this question as part of the recent STEM Design Challenge hosted by the Chester County Intermediate Unit. Under the direction of Miss Kaptur over several months, teams moved through each stage of the engineering design process, from brainstorming problems, to researching, to prototyping and testing their own creative ideas using K'Nex. Ten CASD teams showcased their prototypes, design process, and blueprints in a live competition with teams from around the county. Our King's Highway students' designs included a litter-collecting robot, utility tunnel system, accessible bus, and a sustainable city square equipped with vertical rain gardens and a solar-powered gondola.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, there has been a change of location for the Special Education Plan review this evening. The meeting will now take place at the Coatesville Area School District Administration Building at 6:00 PM.

KHS Kindergarten Grinch Day

Mrs. Swisher's first grade class at King's Highway was excited to have a special guest reader, Mrs. Crane, a retired teacher from Coatesville. When she visited, she read the book The Legend of the Poinsettia, which taught the children about Holidays Around the World. The book revealed that the Poinsettia, originating from Mexico and named after Dr. Joel Poinsett carries great cultural importance. Inspired by the story, the students had the opportunity to showcase their creativity by painting their own beautiful Poinsettias.

Kindergarten students at KHS participated in their Annual Butter Making Day.
Students have been learning about now and long ago. Most students liked the taste of the butter, but agreed it was a lot of work to make and are thankful for the grocery store.
