Elementary Instrumental Music
As part of the curriculum in the Coatesville Area School District, instrumental music lessons are offered to 4th and 5th grade students who want to learn to play a band or orchestral string instrument. During the regular school day, students who participate in the instrumental music program will receive one thirty-minute lesson per 6-day cycle. As students become proficient on their instruments, they will be invited to join the before school band or orchestra.
Caln School Band
The Caln School Band meets before school once a cycle on Day 2 mornings, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., in the Caln School gym. Our 2nd year players begin band in November and focus on music for the District-Wide Instrumental Winter Concert (rehearsals off campus and at night). In January, our 1st year players join the morning band rehearsals, once they have passed the performance assessment for the band. From January through May, the band prepares for the annual Caln School Spring Concert.
